Drain clearance plan to avert clogged up drains pipes

A drain clearance plan to avert clogged up drains pipes

What can you do if you are stuck with a blocked drain pipe? Well the easiest way to unclog your bathroom drain is to adopt these drain clearance ideas and the simplest is to use a drainage plunger. Using a plunger is very simple if you know how. Obviously you shouldn’t move the plunger up and down forcefully as this will be ineffective and could make the blockage worse. To ensure that the plunger works effectively as a drain clearance tool, wholly cover the drain pipe with its bell-shaped head, and gently push it down once, and immediately come up, so that suction is created. The suction created when the plunger is pulled up will hopefully dislodge the material clogging the toilet, tub or sink in your bathroom. Some tubs and sinks have an overflow outlet; remember to plug this outlet with the help of a wet towel or sponge before using the plunger.

You could use a drains pipes clearance chemical that is designed to break down the material instead of the more conventional drain clearance plunger. This is usually done after you attempt to unplug your drainage using your plunger. Run the chemical into the drainpipe and allow it to work for about 30 minutes before flushing the drain with hot water. Because these chemicals can be corrosive or contain bleach you should only wear clothes that you are happy to be damaged. Eye protection is not a bad idea either if you plan on plunging again in case there is any residual back splash of chemical laden water. Just be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions with this drain clearance approach to avoid any unnecessary issues.

Another thing that you can do, if the plunger can not remove the blockage, is to use the pliers and pipe wrench to open the nuts that hold the drainage P-trap in place. Keep a bucket and towel to deal with the mess that will follow. Chrome plated fittings can be protected from scratches by taping up the teeth of the pliers or wrench; that should also give you a firmer grip on the nuts of the trap. After you have removed the drainage P-trap, clean it thoroughly to eradicate any solid material that may be blocking the pipe opening. If, however you cannot find any solid materials the problem is probably harder to get to, between the trap and the soil stack deep in the drains pipes pipework. You will need another drain clearance approach.

If you are trying to unclog your toilet you can use a toilet auger. However a plumbers drainage snake is more suitable for bath tub or kitchen sink waste pipes. Because of their size and length, plumbers drainpipe snakes are well designed for getting at blockages in small spaces in difficult to reach places. A plumbers drainage snake has an adjustable handle which is used to make a drill into the blockage, it then becomes easy to remove the obstruction by pulling it upwards. Once the obstruction is out, reconnect the P-trap and run hot water through the drainpipe to confirm that it is clear. Make sure that all the connections are properly fitted and sealed, and also check the P-trap for leakages.

You need to take professional drainage clearance help in case you are unable to unclog the drain pipe by any of these methods. You will need to call a professional plumber, drain clearance company or waste pipes service when the clog is in the sewer or soil track or when it is due to tree roots, or when the pipe has collapsed due to some reason.
