Immediate respite for your families obstructed sewers

Do you know what the best way to unblock drains is? Using a plunger is the most effective and speediest way to solve this common household problem. The process is pretty straightforward to apply. Obviously you shouldn’t move the plunger up and down forcefully as this will be ineffective and could make the blockage worse. For the best results you should place the head of the plunger over the drainpipe, smoothly push down and bring up again quickly creating and even suction in the drains pipes pipe. So any material that is stuck into the bathroom, sink or tub drainage should come out with the upward pull on the drainage plunger. Some washbasins and bathtubs are provided with overflow openings that have to be blocked temporarily with a wet cloth for the plunger to develop effective suction.

Instead of using your plunger you can apply commercial products containing chemicals that can dissolve the blockage, for instance concentrated waste pipes cleaner. However this option should be used only after you have used the plunger to unclog your drainage. Run the chemical into the drain pipe and allow it to work for about 30 minutes before flushing the drain with hot water. Use rough clothes that cover your body fully as things could get a bit mucky and some of the strong chemicals may spill on you and burn exposed skin. If you are not careful the chemical filled water may splash on your face while you are using the drains plunger, so use some eye protection for the same. To avoid unwarranted issues from creeping up, follow the manufacturers instructions ardently.

The next thing you can attempt to use if your plunger is unproductive is to loosen the nuts holding the P-trap in place with pliers or a pipe wrench. Keep a bucket and towel to deal with the mess that will follow. Use an electrical tape to encircle the jaws of your wrench so that you can get a better grip on the pipes and also maintain their chrome finish without scratching them. After disassembling the P-trap, examine the trap for anything blocking the mouth of the pipe. But in case you are unable to find any blockage, chances are that the problem lies deep down between the soil stack and the trap and you will need additional tools.

In case of a blocked toilet, you can apply a toilet auger. A drainage snake should be used if you are trying to unclog your sink or tub. The instrument is designed in a way that it can travel deep down into your pipes. With the help of the adjustable handle, you can literally drill into the blockage and pull out the clog from the drain. After removing the clog, reassemble the P-trap and let hot water flow into the drainage to double check it works properly. Make sure that everything is tight and sealed properly and test the P-trap for leaks.

After trying all of these methods and you still have a water flow problem, it is time to contact a drainage contractor or local plumber. You will need to call a professional plumber or drains pipes service when the stoppage is in the sewer or soil track or when it is due to tree roots, or when the pipe has collapsed due to some reason.
