How to take on your stopped waste pipes issue
What can you do if you are stuck with a choked drainage? Well the easiest way to unblock your bathroom drainpipe is to use a drains pipes plunger. Using a waste pipes plunger is relatively simple to do. Obviously you shouldn’t move the plunger up and down forcefully as this will be ineffective and could make the blockage worse. To achieve the desired effect, the drain pipe should be totally covered with the head of the plunger and then the bell-shaped rubber must be pressed down slowly; next the handle should be pulled up fast and with good enough force to produce an effective suction. A minor clog can be pulled up and out of the sink or drain pipe through the sucking action of the plunger. It should be noted here that some bath tubs and sinks have overflow outlets that must be plugged with a sponge or wet towel before using your plunger if this approach is to work.
You could use a waste pipes clearance chemical that is designed to break down the material instead of the more conventional plunger. However this option should be used only after you have used the plunger to unclog your drainpipe. The solutions should be left alone for sometime as they loosen up the blockage, then you should pour down hot water into the drainpipe to clear the whole thing out. Because these chemicals can be corrosive or contain bleach you should only wear clothes that you are happy to be damaged. If you are not careful the chemical filled water may splash on your face while you are using the waste pipes plunger, so use some eye protection for the same. Make sure to follow the supplier’s guide so that you won’t come across any problems.
If the plunger still doesn’t make any difference after the chemical treatment you could use pliers or a pipe wrench to loosen the P-trap nuts. This will create quite a mess so be ready with a towel and pail. By covering the jaws of your wrench with electrical tape you will avoid damaging the chrome on your pipes and it will also allow you to get a better purchase of them. Once you have removed the P-trap you can inspect the trap thoroughly for any blockage. If the plunger, the chemical or trap removal does not help, then the blockage could be much deeper in the pipework.
In case of a clogged toilet, you can apply a toilet auger. If the problem lies in your tub or sink, a plumbers drainpipe snake will come in handy. drainage snakes are designed to reach deep down into the far reaches of your narrow pipes. Once the snake has reached the blockage you can twist the adjustable handle which will drill into the obstruction so you can then pull the material out. After you have successfully removed the the blockage you should put the P-trap back into place and check if water can flow through freely. Make certain the whole thing is tightly closed and check for any leakage in the P-trap and ensure that the water flows well.
If all the above enlisted methods fail to unclog your bathroom drain, then you should call a professional waste pipes contractor. You will need to call a professional plumber or drains service when the stoppage is in the sewer or soil track or when it is due to tree roots, or when the pipe has collapsed due to some reason.
